As we mark the end of October, the State of Nevada celebrates our entry into the union as the 36th state (October 31, 1864). Since 2000, the state has scheduled Nevada’s birthday on the last Friday in October, creating a three-day weekend to celebrate. This year marks the 160th year since the Nevada Territory became a state during the Civil War, creating Nevada’s “Battle Born” state motto. Happy 160th birthday Nevada! Enjoy the holiday and start to the long weekend this Friday, October 25th!
