Saint Anne celebrates the Feast Day of Saint Francis on or around October 4th annually. Saint Francis of Assisi is the Patron Saint of Animals. St. Francis is remembered for his love of all God’s creatures. In his name, school families are invited to bring their pets on campus for a Blessing of the Animals ceremony.
Saint Anne Pastor, Monsignor Gordon, walks across the street from the Parish to the School to greet everyone and provide a blessing.
Dogs and cats are the most common pets that participate but we have had rabbits, iguanas, parrots, and even snakes attend the festivities. Students are delighted by the entire experience. The children make The Sign of the Cross on their pet’s forehead when Holy Water is dispersed in their direction.
Recognizing Saints is a large part of our Catholic identity and Saint Anne is proud to educate the next generation’s Catechists.
