Saint Francis de Sales has an active Drama Ministry Program that includes students in Grades 3 through 8. Our Drama Ministry program has evolved into a successful school-wide program for each grade level class as well as an extra-curricular program with presentations for the parish during weekend Masses.
Throughout the school year, each class has the opportunity to work with our Director, Mr. Blaskey, who creates scripts that uniquely reinforce our faith, beliefs, mission, philosophy, life skills, and social justice themes. The students have the opportunity to learn about performing, set design, props, and directing while fostering an appreciation for drama, and sharing important values – the message of each Drama Ministry presentation.
This past December, during Advent, we presented the dramatization of the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the life of Juan Diego. This helped to educate the students and parishioners about the circumstances and facts surrounding the visitation of our Blessed Mother to a native peasant and asking to have a church built in honor of her son.
These talented actors work diligently after school to bring the message to all attending the four weekend Masses. We also presented an encore performance for the WCEA Visiting Committee during their pre-visit to the school on December 13th. Everyone was amazed by these young performers.
